Unlocking All Weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Unlike previous Dynasty Warriors titles where players controlled numerous characters, each with unique weapons, Dynasty Warriors: Origins features a single protagonist who unlocks a diverse arsenal throughout the game. This guide details how to acquire each weapon.
Weapon Acquisition Guide
Early Dynasty Warriors games linked weapons to specific characters, each with unique movesets. Dynasty Warriors: Origins simplifies this by allowing weapon switching.
Starting with a sword, additional weapons are earned by defeating specific enemy officers in various missions. All nine main weapons are obtainable before completing Chapter 3, although the exact order might vary. For optimal timing, follow this guide:
- Sword: Your starting weapon.
- Spear: Complete the Battle of Guangyang in Chapter 1 (requires purchase for story progression).
- Gauntlets: Defeat Zhou Cang in the Battle of Guangzong, Chapter 1.
- Wheels: Defeat Zhang Ju in the Suppression of You Province, Chapter 2.
- Podao: Defeat any officer wielding a Podao in the Subjugation of the White Wave Bandits, Chapter 2.
- Staff: Defeat an officer within a hidden treasure chamber accessed via a secret passage during the Assassination of Dong Zhuo, Chapter 2.
- Twin Pike: Defeat Zhang Liao in the Battle of Hulao Gate, Chapter 2.
- Lance: Defeat an officer carrying the Lance in the Battle of Xu Province. This requires engaging with either Cao Cao or Liu Bei's faction, necessitating defeating an officer from the opposing side.
- Crescent Blade: Unlocked in Chapter 3 after aligning with a specific faction. The exact mission varies depending on your choices.
The final weapon, the halberd, is a significant challenge. After completing the main campaign, defeat Lu Bu at the Battle of Hulao Gate to obtain this powerful weapon, widely considered the best in the game.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins is available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
