The vast, sparsely populated Synthwave world of Hyper Light Breaker's Overgrowth can feel daunting to navigate. Fortunately, you have access to a secret weapon from the very start: the Hoverboard. This guide explains how to use it and reveals some of its less obvious capabilities.
Summoning Your Hoverboard
To activate your Hoverboard, simply hold down the Dodge button. Your character will dash forward and automatically mount the Hoverboard as long as you continue holding the button. It's essentially a super-sprint mechanic.
Controlling the Hoverboard is intuitive. The left analog stick controls direction. Leaning into turns is slower at higher speeds. Release the Dodge button to dismount. The Hoverboard will also automatically deactivate if you run out of Energy. Your current Energy level is displayed near your companion. Remember to dismount briefly to recharge your Energy to avoid unexpected dismounts.
Advanced Hoverboard Techniques & Uses
While the Hoverboard doesn't allow for tricks or combat, its capabilities extend beyond simple traversal:

Water Navigation: The Hoverboard effortlessly floats on water, eliminating the need to circumvent waterways. However, you must already be on the Hoverboard before entering the water for it to function.
