Solving the Fountain of Confession Puzzle in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Following your triumph in the Sacred Wounds puzzle and escape from the Vatican's underground, Indy carries the scroll from the Giant's tomb, revealing the next destination: the Fountain of Confession. Remember to photograph every inscription, statue, and mural along the way to earn valuable Adventure Points for later skill upgrades.
Exit Antonio's office (as you did at the start of the Sacred Wounds mission), and consult your journal's map to follow the waypoints. You'll find a staircase in the outer courtyard leading to the Fountain of Confession, where the puzzle begins.
Begin by locating the chest near the fountain's right side, in the construction area. Inside lies the fountain key, granting access to the adjacent storage room.
Inside the storage room, use Indy's whip to rappel to the roof. Swing across to the window, returning you to the fountain's top. You'll see two dragon statues facing forward. Ignore the statue you're currently on. Swing to the second dragon statue and retrieve the protruding dragon claw, activating a lever.
Use the lever to rotate the statue, aligning it to face the opposite dragon. Repeat this process on the other dragon statue, but note that its claw is missing.
Look down at the scaffolding to the left; the missing claw has fallen. Rappel down to retrieve it, triggering a cutscene with Gina Lombardi. After the cutscene, reclaim the claw.
Return to the statue, insert the claw, and use the lever to make the dragons face each other. This rotates the Fountain of Confession statue below, revealing the next stage. Rappel down to proceed.
Use Indy's whip to pull the statue, revealing a gate blocked by three statues: an angel (left), a man (right), and a smaller statue (center).
Activate the lever that appears on the fountain to reveal the first wall puzzle (a baptism scene). Use the inscriptions on the fountain pillars for hints.
Position the larger male statue under the water bucket, activate the water mechanism with your whip to fill it, and then push the statue towards the smaller one, completing the first puzzle.
Reactivate the lever for the second puzzle, involving aligning stone layers to move an angel figure. Use the handles on the wall to control the layers, moving the angel to the right to complete the puzzle.
Finally, push the remaining central statue through the gate to activate a spiral stairway and progress to the next part of the game.
