A teaser trailer showcased beloved trainers like Marnie, Lillie, and N, alongside their Pokémon, hinting at a nostalgic comeback for a key element of the early TCG.
The trailer featured Lillie’s Clefairy ex, Marnie’s Grimmsnarl ex, N’s Zoroark ex, and N’s Reshiram, giving fans a glimpse of what's to come. These cards, a hallmark of the original TCG, featured Pokémon uniquely linked to specific trainers, boasting distinctive artwork and abilities.
The teaser also dropped a significant clue about the potential return of Team Rocket, showcasing Mewtwo alongside the infamous duo's logo. This fueled speculation about a dedicated Team Rocket card set or even the comeback of Dark Pokémon, another popular early mechanic closely tied to Team Rocket's villainous activities. Reports of a Japanese retailer listing and a trademark filing by The Pokémon Company ("The Glory of Team Rocket") further add weight to these rumors.
Paradise Dragona Set Unveiled
Further exciting news from the World Championships: the debut of cards from the upcoming Paradise Dragona set. PokeBeach reported early reveals of Latias, Latios, Exeggcute, and Alolan Exeggutor ex. This Japanese subset, focused on Dragon-type Pokémon, is slated for an English-language release as part of the Surging Sparks set in November 2024.
Shrouded Fable Concludes Kitikami Chapter
The Pokémon TCG is currently wrapping up its Kitikami chapter with the release of Shrouded Fable this month. This set, according to the official blog, contains 99 cards: 64 standard cards and 35 secret rare cards.
