Pokemon TCG Pocket Pack Hourglasses: Confirmed for Future Expansions
Recent speculation suggested that the upcoming Pokemon TCG Pocket expansion would render Pack Hourglasses obsolete. However, The Pokemon Company has officially confirmed that this is untrue. Pack Hourglasses will continue to function as intended, reducing booster pack opening delays by one hour per hourglass, regardless of the expansion.
This confirmation follows the October 2024 release of Pokemon TCG Pocket and the subsequent addition of the Mythical Island booster pack. With another expansion anticipated in January 2025, concerns arose regarding the future utility of these hourglasses. These concerns were fueled by players who had already completed the initial Genetic Apex packs.
The Pokemon Company's statement explicitly clarifies that Pack Hourglasses will remain a valuable asset for speeding up pack openings. This eliminates the need for a new, expansion-specific currency for reducing opening times, at least for the foreseeable future. Players can therefore continue accumulating Pack Hourglasses in preparation for the next expansion.
For players without Pack Hourglasses, Pack Stamina replenishes every 12 hours, allowing for two pack openings daily. Hourglasses can be obtained through daily challenges and the daily Complimentary Item Set in the shop. Twelve hourglasses are needed to instantly open a pack. Pokemon TCG Pocket boasts a diverse range of in-game currencies beyond Pack Hourglasses, including Wonder Hourglasses, various tickets, Poke Gold, and Pack Points.
This announcement should alleviate the concerns of players who had stockpiled Pack Hourglasses, ensuring their continued relevance in the evolving Pokemon TCG Pocket ecosystem. The game's ongoing success strongly suggests further expansions are likely.
