Will Wright, the mastermind behind The Sims, recently unveiled more details about his innovative AI life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream. This highly anticipated title, initially announced in 2018, is finally taking shape, offering players a deeply personal gaming experience.
A Game Forged From Your Memories
Wright's appearance on BreakthroughT1D's Twitch channel, a platform dedicated to raising funds for Type 1 diabetes research, provided a fascinating glimpse into Proxi's core mechanics. The game leverages AI to transform players' real-life memories, inputted as text, into animated 3D scenes. These scenes are fully customizable, allowing players to fine-tune the visual representation of their recollections.
Each memory, termed a "mem," contributes to the development of the player's "mind world," a unique 3D environment built from interconnected hexagons. As the mind world expands with new mems, it becomes populated with Proxies—digital representations of friends and family—creating a vibrant and evolving personal landscape. The timeline is flexible, allowing for the rearrangement and interlinking of memories and Proxies to accurately reflect the context and individuals involved. Remarkably, these Proxies can even be exported to other game worlds like Minecraft and Roblox!
Wright emphasized Proxi's focus on creating a deeply personal and engaging experience. The game's design is centered around the player's own memories, bringing them to life in a unique and interactive way. He playfully acknowledged the inherent human tendency towards self-focus, stating that a game centered around the player's life is inherently more appealing.
Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's official website, with platform announcements expected soon.
