Blizzard Fails to Extend Diablo 3 Event

Diablo 3 enthusiasts are currently immersed in the "Fall of Tristram" event, a cherished tradition within the game. Although the event is scheduled to conclude on February 1, a segment of the fanbase has expressed a desire for its extension. However, community manager pezradar has clarified that due to the event being hard-coded into the game, extending it is currently not feasible. He stated, "I asked about Tristram and the possibility of extending it, but unfortunately [the event] is hard-coded and it's impossible to make server-side fixes."

In addition to addressing the "Fall of Tristram" event, pezradar also touched upon the delay of Season 34 of Call of Light, which has disrupted the weekend plans of some players. He apologized for the inconvenience, explaining, "I'm sorry. It's not what I was hoping for. We were notified about 24 hours before we had to adjust the time." The delay stems from the need to develop new code to ensure a seamless transition between seasons following issues with the automatic scheduler that prematurely ended the previous season in early January. He further noted, "The extra time allows us to implement and test the new code, and ensure that players' progress is transferred smoothly from their accounts." Pezradar acknowledged the need for improved communication with players at earlier stages and assured that the team is taking this into consideration for future updates.

Meanwhile, Wolcen Studio has announced Project Pantheon, an upcoming free-to-play combat role-playing game that incorporates elements of extraction shooter mechanics. The first closed alpha testing phase is set to begin on January 25 for players in Europe, with North American players joining on February 1. Game director Andrei Cirkulete described the game as a fusion of the tension and risk-reward dynamics found in extraction shooters with the engaging battle mechanics of combat RPGs. He noted, "Diablo and Escape from Tarkov seem to have a parenthood. We are eager to hear from the players." In Project Pantheon, players will assume the role of a messenger of Death, working to restore order in a world that has been ravaged.
