How To Unlock Multiple Pets in Stardew Valley
Daily care is key: Ensure your pet's bowl is full daily (excluding rainy/snowy days). Pet your animal once a day to see a heart appear above its head. Monitor your pet's friendship level in the "Animals" tab of the pause menu.
Once friendship is maxed, Marnie will send a letter notifying you of additional pet adoption opportunities at her shop. If you didn't adopt a pet in Year 1, the letter arrives at the start of Year 2.
