Phasmophobia: Unlocking the Eerie Secrets of the Music Box

In Phasmophobia, identifying ghost types and escaping with your life is key. The game's frequent updates introduce new ghosts and interactive objects, including the Music Box. This guide explains how to obtain and utilize this valuable tool.

Table of Contents

  • Obtaining the Music Box
  • Using the Music Box
  • Triggering a Hunt with the Music Box

Obtaining the Music Box

Like other cursed items in Phasmophobia, the Music Box has a 1/7 chance of appearing on any given map. Its appearance is entirely random; there's no guaranteed method to find one. Only a single Music Box can spawn per game. Once located, interact with it to pick it up, then interact again to activate it.

Using the Music Box

Several strategies involve the Music Box. Upon activation, it plays a song. If a ghost is within 20 meters, it will "sing along," revealing its location. Proximity matters: within 5 meters, the ghost will approach the Box. You can even place the activated Box on the ground as a lure. The song's conclusion automatically deactivates the Box. Note that holding the activated Box depletes your sanity.

Triggering a Hunt with the Music Box

The Music Box can initiate a cursed or standard hunt, depending on these conditions:

  • Throwing the active Box.
  • Reaching 0% sanity while holding the active Box.
  • The ghost approaching the Box for over five seconds.
  • The ghost's proximity to the player holding the active Box.

For effective Music Box use, consider bringing additional tools like Smudge Sticks to increase your survival chances during a hunt, allowing for ghost identification or objective completion.
