Alleged Leaks Surface for the Upcoming Jet Set Radio Remake

Rumors of a Jet Set Radio remake, confirmed by Sega last December, have been fueled by recent online leaks. These leaks, attributed to the Sega leaker Midori (who has since deleted their social media accounts), include images and video purportedly showcasing the game's development build.

The initial announcement at the 2023 Game Awards offered limited details. However, Midori had previously hinted at both a reboot (a live-service game with events and customization) and a separate remake, lacking these features. The leaked material seems to support the existence of this standalone remake.

Twitter user MSKAZZY69 shared four screenshots, allegedly sourced from Midori, depicting a map and gameplay elements. They described the game as a "complete remake of the original, totally separate from the new one," and characterized it as an "open-world remake." This aligns with Midori's earlier claims of graffiti, shooting mechanics, and an expanded Tokyo setting with a new storyline.

A YouTube video, featuring gameplay footage with a visual style consistent with the screenshots, further bolsters the leak. The footage shows protagonist Beat engaging in graffiti art, performing skating maneuvers, and exploring various Tokyo locations. The visuals present a modernized, more realistic interpretation of the original game's characters and environments.

Despite the compelling nature of the leaks, their authenticity remains unconfirmed. The absence of official confirmation from Sega, coupled with Midori's withdrawal from social media, casts doubt on the legitimacy of the material. Furthermore, a 2026 release date is anticipated, suggesting a considerable wait before official confirmation.

While the leaks have generated significant excitement among fans, it's crucial to approach them with caution. Sega's commitment to reviving classic titles is evident, with projects like Alex Kidd and House of the Dead also reportedly underway. However, until official announcements and verifiable footage are released, any unverified information should be treated with skepticism.
