Conquering the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide

Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord found in the Rinascita region's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide details how to overcome this formidable foe.

Locating the Lifer

The Lifer resides in Oakheart Highcourt's maze center, beneath a giant tree. An accessible entrance is located southwest of the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. Players can climb the walls or use the Flight function to reach it.

The Lifer's Board Game

Inside, players encounter a six-piece board game. Players control black pieces, the Lifer white. Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens maze walls and gates in that direction. The game isn't mandatory for combat but is crucial for debuffing the Lifer. Winning before debuffing is strongly discouraged.

Removing the Lifer's Buffs

The Lifer possesses seven buffs; four are removable using Stakes of Imbalance, three are permanent. The buffs are visible on a yellow module behind the Lifer.

Removable Buffs (Fragility):

  • Growing Loneliness: 10% Max HP recovery per second after 2+ seconds without attack.
  • Desire for Escape: 25% ATK increase, plus an additional 25% every 20 seconds.
  • Impending Stalemate: 20% ATK increase per DMG instance (stacks to 4). Stacks reset after 6 seconds without DMG.
  • Decay of Time: 200% resistance to all elemental damage types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc). 25% Max HP increase.

Permanent Buffs (Stability):

  • Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
  • Endless Game: 50% reduced Immobilization duration.
  • Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP damage in a single hit.

To find the Stakes of Imbalance, use the Sensor near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the gates to these rooms. Each room contains a winged statue and a Stake of Imbalance (marked with a white glow). One room requires defeating Tacet Discords, another breaking Friable Rocks, and one is simply on a table.

Place each Stake in the module in front of its corresponding statue to remove a buff. The purple line will turn yellow upon successful debuffing.

Defeating the Lifer

After removing all four removable buffs, engage the Lifer. The fight is significantly easier. Winning the board game or selecting "Fight it out!" initiates combat. The Lifer's attacks pose minimal threat without its buffs.

First victory rewards a Premium Supply Chest. Second: another Premium Supply Chest and three Basic Supply Chests. Third: an Advanced Supply Chest and three Standard Supply Chests. Buffs can be re-enabled for a harder fight, but no achievements are tied to this.

Lifer Achievements

  • The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
  • The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (defeat the Lifer three times).
  • Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
  • Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.

For the board game, focus on preventing the Lifer from creating lines. It will eventually make a mistake.
