Deadlock Gets a Big Update from Valve

by Lucas Mar 14,2025

Valve has released a major update for Deadlock, completely revamping its core map design. Gone are the four lanes; in their place sits a more traditional MOBA-style three-lane battlefield. This fundamental shift dramatically alters gameplay. Previously, a common strategy involved a "1 vs 2" lane distribution; now, teams will likely deploy two heroes per lane, necessitating revised strategies and resource allocation.

The map redesign extends beyond lane count. Neutral camps, buffs, and other key locations have been repositioned. To help players adapt, a new "map exploration" mode has been added, allowing for solo exploration of the revised layout without enemy or allied interference.

Beyond the map, the Soul Orb system has received significant attention. Players can now collect souls even without directly securing the kill, leading to faster resource accumulation. Further refinements include reduced hover times for soul effects.

This update also includes adjustments to sprint mechanics and character balance, alongside enhanced performance and bug fixes. Support for DLSS, FSR, NVIDIA Reflex, and Anti-Lag 2.0 has been added. For a comprehensive list of all changes, consult the official patch notes.
