Capcom recently shared a pre-launch update for Monster Hunter Wilds, addressing console performance, weapon adjustments, and a significant change to PC minimum specifications. The video update, featuring director Yuya Tokuda, followed the Open Beta Test (OBT).
Console Performance: A Look at Target Specs
The developers revealed target performance settings for consoles. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will offer two modes: "Prioritize Graphics" (4K resolution at 30fps) and "Prioritize Framerate" (1080p at 60fps). Xbox Series S will run natively at 1080p and 30fps. A rendering bug affecting the framerate mode has been resolved, resulting in improved performance. While PS5 Pro support is confirmed with enhanced graphics at launch, specific details remain undisclosed.Lowered PC Minimum Specs Incoming
Initial PC specifications have been adjusted. Capcom announced plans to significantly reduce the minimum required specs, broadening accessibility. Precise details will be released closer to the launch date. The possibility of a PC benchmark tool is also under consideration.
Second Open Beta Test Under Consideration
A second open beta test is being considered, primarily to allow players who missed the first opportunity to experience the game. However, this potential second beta will not include the improvements and adjustments detailed in the recent update; these changes will be implemented in the full release.
Further updates included refinements to hitstop and sound effects for increased impact, friendly fire mitigation, and weapon adjustments focusing on the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance.
Monster Hunter Wilds launches February 28th, 2025, on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
