by Nathan Mar 04,2025

New details about the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows have surfaced online following a purported leak of an artbook, unexpectedly discovered on a hentai website, among other locations.

The "Art of Assassin's Creed Shadows" artbook, highlighted on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, has rapidly spread across the internet. It boasts hundreds of pages showcasing concept art, quotes from developers, and behind-the-scenes information regarding the next Assassin's Creed installment. The leak's origin is noteworthy, with claims suggesting its initial appearance on a site known for hosting hentai content. Ubisoft has been contacted by IGN for comment.

While the original source has removed the gallery, archived versions are now circulating on various file-sharing platforms and image boards.

The leaked artbook features intriguing details, including designs for famous historical figures, major cities, and an array of weapons. The artwork also seemingly reveals potential plot spoilers for Assassin's Creed Shadows. However, verification awaits the game's official release.

The leak emerges shortly before Assassin's Creed Shadows' anticipated launch on March 20, 2025, following a postponement from its initial 2024 release window to February.

At a recent preview event, IGN interviewed Assassin's Creed Shadows' game director, Charles Benoit. He confirmed the one-month delay was primarily focused on refinement, with no significant alterations to core gameplay systems. While minor adjustments were made to enhance engagement and balance, the most substantial refinement involved the parkour system, which encountered challenges specific to the game's Feudal Japan setting.

Benoit explained, "Japanese architecture, particularly the roofs, is incredibly complex—likely the most complex I've ever worked with compared to Odyssey and Syndicate. We required specific code and animations to maintain fluidity, modifying parkour transitions for a smoother experience. This addressed player feedback and significantly improved the system in recent months."
