RAID Shadow Legends: Understanding the Pity System and Its Effectiveness

by Jason May 21,2025

RAID: Shadow Legends is notorious for its RNG-based (random number generator) system when it comes to summoning champions. The thrill of pulling shards can quickly turn into frustration, especially when players experience long streaks without obtaining a coveted Legendary champion. To mitigate this, Plarium introduced the "Pity System." But how does it work, and is it truly beneficial for free-to-play (F2P) and low-spender players? Let's delve into the details.

What Is the Pity System in RAID: Shadow Legends?

The Pity System is a subtle mechanic designed to boost your chances of summoning higher rarity champions, such as Epics and Legendaries, the longer you go without pulling one. Essentially, if your luck runs dry for an extended period, the game gradually increases your odds until you finally secure a high-value pull. This system aims to curb the devastating "dry streaks" where players might summon dozens, or even hundreds, of shards without landing a good champion. Although Plarium doesn't openly promote this mechanic in-game, it has been verified by dataminers, developers, and countless player experiences.

Sacred Shards

  • Base Legendary chance: 6% per pull.
  • Mercy kicks in: After 12 pulls without a Legendary.

Once you reach your 12th Sacred pull without a Legendary, each subsequent pull increases your Legendary odds by 2%. The progression is as follows:

  • 13th pull: 8% chance
  • 14th pull: 10% chance
  • 15th pull: 12% chance

Is the Pity System Helpful for the Average Player?

The effectiveness of the Pity System isn't straightforward. While it does offer some relief, many players feel that the system kicks in too late to be regularly beneficial. By the time players reach the pity threshold, they often have already pulled a Legendary champion. Therefore, the system could be enhanced to provide more immediate assistance.

For free-to-play players, the constant grind and farming for shards without landing a Legendary can be disheartening. The Pity System is crucial, yet it could be improved. For instance, reducing the pity threshold from 200 to 150 or 170 would allow players to save more shards and genuinely feel the benefit of the system.
